"Hey, why not start writing a song?" - Joshua.
Way before
REVOLUTION, there was
FFC (Fools for Christ) and way before that was
Ellohim.
Back in 2003, Joshua thought of composing a praise song when
Andy,
Sylvia,
Pow Wee,
and he were in the same church cell group.
Ellohim auditioned in our church's Talentime 2003 with a self composed song entitled
"Fullness". This group of teenagers was full of fresh creativity they took part in Talentime 2003 even though they were not
proficient in their musical instruments. Although they did not make it into the finals, it was a virgin experience for them all.
Back then,
Andy
was picking up drums again as he used to be the school band drummer in his secondary school.
Joshua was the singer as he had passion for it.
Sylvia,
who plays the keyboard, started out when she was nominated
to be the pianist for her Worship team in the Girls' Brigade. And
Pow Wee
who had just started out playing the guitar,
was already filled with dreams and desires. They started jamming on an irregular basis at Alvron (A studio in Bukit Timah).
It is still the place where
REVOLUTION practices.
In Feb 2004 ,
Andy,
Pow Wee,
and
Sylvia,
thought of joining the church's Talentime and hence decided to start jamming again.
Realising that there was a lack of groove when they played together, it was concluded unanimously that a bassist was needed.
A search for a bassist then began, and
Andy
bumped into
Edmund
while helping out in church and realized that he was looking for a
band to play with. Thus they got together and started to jam on a fortnightly basis with a vision to create an impact in the lives
of youths locally and all around the world. However, due to some personal commitment issues, Joshua the vocalist left the band.
At that time,
Andy
also invited Andre (Whom he met while playing in church band) to play for them. Still lacking a vocalist,
Ivan, Roy, Mildred and Joseph were roped in (These 4 were actually a singing Quartet). However, only a maximum of 6 members were
allowed to participate and Joseph volunteered himself to sing for us as the others were busy. Slowly, the other 3 members faded to
the back of the scenes
With the new members on board, Fools For Christ was birthed. They entered the TalenTime audition with "Rescue Me" by
Planet Shakers and the judges were pretty impressed with their performance. The journey started when they made it into the
finals. Even though they did not win, it was definitely a great exposure having been able to perform in an auditorium filled
with a crowd of 3000.
However,
Andy,
Pow Wee,
Sylvia
and
Edmund
desired more than just performing in church, but also for more public exposure. As commitment
was a problem, Joseph and Andre had to leave
FFC soon after Talentime as they had to focus on other areas in their lives.
The rest of
FFC began exploring their musical talent by learning from their respective instructors.
Andy
got Tan Boon to be his drum
teacher,
Edmund
learned from KC, and
Pow Wee,
got Jessel to be his guide.
Breakthrough came in September 2004 when
Jag
joined us after a recommendation from
Andy's
friend, Alvin.
Jag
was indeed inspirational to
the growth of
FFC. Be it playing with a consistent tightness or any addition of new songs,
FFC progressed greatly with synergy and
fellowship as the core strength of the band. Not to forget the backing which was, the vision from God.
'We' was not being used in this long history because these were events that occurred way before
REVOLUTION came about. Right now,
REVOLUTION is even more blessed with our latest member,
Silas,
who joined us in late December 2004.
REVOLUTION, we feel, is significant in creating a new mindset for youths in our nation, which is a turn over from a hopeless to a
hopeful world. There is a deep desire to reach out to the youths who long for faith, hope and love. We do not want to be a band
that hungers after fame, but rather as one that will be identified as an ambassador for youths to voice out. A band that is relatable
to, and one that will be part of the revival of the local music scene which will be an inspiration to aspiring musicians, to keep the
faith, and be part of the new cultural revolution in Singapore.
Currently, we are still jamming actively in Alvron, which is located at Lorong Kilat. We will keep pressing on and improving ourselves
no matter how tough and long the road ahead is for us. May God bless all our supporters...

emo - short for "emotional." Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock. Interesting website which explains everything about emo and it is definitely not emo from sasame-streets. haha

Asian Beat heats
Sunday, September 25, 2005
Firstly, thanks to all the supporters who came down to Youth Park to support Revolution in the heats!
Revolution kicked off the Asian Beat heats with style, playing their original composition, Angel's Wings (admit it, it's a fan favourite). Just an observation: Revolution was the brightest band at Youth Park... literally... a refreshing change to all the black and white that seems to be what everybody else has decided to wear. Everything went great and by faith we claim the semi finals spot!
All the best to The One (Sidney lookalike band) and Tainted Friday (girl power)!
P/S: having a female keyboardist is by no way "inoriginal" (that's not even a word in the first place).
PP/S: we'll much rather have a "cliche" good band who can at least play one song without the lead singer going off key...
